Before taking Samadhi in the year 1918, Sri Sai Baba entrusted an urn of "Udi" to his devoted follower Abdullah Baba telling him "I will be sending my spiritual son to you sometime in future. Keep this urn safely till then and hand it over to him when he comes. Sai Baba added "you will leave this earth, only after handing over the urn of Udi to my spiritual son." Sri Dattatreya Bhagwat (Dada ji) was born on 6 Feb 1921 in Satara. In 1952 after visiting the shrine of Sri Sai Baba, when Dada ji went to pay his respects to Abdullah Baba, he found the doors of the cottage shut, as he was resting at that time. Dada Ji was about to turn away , the doors of the cottage were flung open by Abdullah Baba himself, who called him into the cottage and handed over the urn, saying " I have been waiting for you for the last thirty five years, now I am handing over your amaanat (Valuable possession ) to you". This is one of the extraordinary events in Dada ji's spiritual journey.
Dada ji was only twelve years old when he was instructed by his Guru, Sri Teli Maharaj to take up the spiritual path. "Do not add to the fires in this world," said Sri Teli Maharaj, "instead put out the fires that are burning up this world". Thus began the extraordinary spiritual journey of a man, who sacrificed all worldly desires and ambition, to find and resolve the cause of the problems faced by humanity.
Being the eldest son, Dada ji was called upon to fulfil his family responsibilities by taking up a job. Despite the many demands on his time, he carried on with his Sadhana, meditation and prayer to Sri Sai Baba, as instructed by Sri Bhairavnath ji. All through this period people kept on coming to him for "Kamkaaj (consultation to mitigate their problems). Having experienced the problems faced by the humanity, Dada ji was quite disturbed and wanted to analyse the root cause of these problems, which resulted in the destruction of a person's knowledge, wealth and family and wanted to establish a lasting solution to these problems not only for this generation, but also, for the past and future generations of the person.
After twelve years of devoted penance and dutiful obedience to Sai Baba's guidance, Dada ji was told by Sai Baba, that he would get the answers to all his questions, but that he would have to devote himself totally to the service of Sri Dattguru ( The deity Sri Dattatreya) at Audumber. Through service to Sri Dattguru, Dada Ji would be able to learn the process of 'Nirakaran' (elimination of the cause of the problem) and 'Niwaran' (complete freedom from the future occurrence of the problem) of people's problems. Leaving his job and his family, Dada ji moved to Audumber, where he carried on his Sadhana. Under the guidance of Sai Baba and spiritually evolved Sufi saints (Vibhutis) Hazarat Haji Malang Baba of Kalyan , Hazarat Abdul Qadir Jilani Baba Of Bagdad ,Hazarat Khawaja Moinudeen Chishti (Bande Gareeb Nawaz) of Ajmer shareef , Ajmer, Khawaja Bande Nawaz of Gulbarga and Khawaja Saleem Chishti of Fatehpur Sikri , Dada ji gradually attained complete spiritual purity. The entire process was under the guidance of Lord Dattatreya Maharaj and the Navnaths. Lord Dttatreya is the custodian of the trinity or tri shaktee, that is Utpatti Stithi Laya (Creation, Preservation, and Perfection) or Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh. Dada Ji was also guided by Hazarat Khawaja Qutubbddin Bhaktiar Kaki and Sri Pant Maharaj of Balekundri.
Dada ji realized that the problems faced by human beings were the result of Karmas of previous lives and the previous life (Janmajanmantar and Janma Karam), defects in the Vansh (ancestors) into which a person is born, dereliction duties to the religion in previous life (Devadik), non fulfilment of required actions for those to whom you owe services or to whom you are indebted (Rina), duties towards parents and influence of parent(Matru Pitra), influence of friends and relatives (Iterejan). He perfected Nirakaran and Niwaran for Vimochan (removal) of the above problems/ defects.
Dada ji organized eight Sadhana Sammelans (seminars) from 1979 to 1983. A number of discourses (Mulakaats were given by Dada ji and Vibhutis (through the medium of Dada Ji). By way of these Mulakaats "Brahmgyan" (Spiritual Knowledge) was imparted to the devotees. The devotees were also taught the discipline of the Gurumarg. The Devotees were shown the path of leading a life full of happiness, peace and contentment. Dada Ji and the saints purified the medium of the devotees, through Mulakaats and Sadhana thus, enabling them to perform the duties required for the attainment of the objectives of this Marg. Finally under the guidance of Khawaja Saleem Chishti and with the help of the purified medium of the devotees Dada Ji accumulated the trigunatmak shaktee (three fold or ultimate divine power ) of Datta Naths and Sufis , in the shaktee Peeth at Porivaram Goa. Shaktee Peeth, meaning the seat of the divine power. Shaktee Peeth was established on 14 April 83. By establishing the Shaktee Peeth Dada ji achieved an amazing feat which was not achieved by any deity.
The Shaktee Peeth was for the benefit of mankind for all times to come. The Shaktee will always remain for the use of mankind and no individual owns the Shaktee .The Shaktee Peeth is the seat of the shaktee of Datta , Nath and Sufi Panth.Only Sewaks appointed by Baba and Dada Ji may use it for the benefit of humanity Dadaji also set up Centres in various parts of India as well as abroad. These Centres are run by 'Sewaks', who through the blessings of Sri Sai Baba and Dada ji provide guidance and solutions to problems that plague our lives and help devotees achieve spiritual progress.
The entire process of establishing the Shaktee Peeth was as if pre ordained. Initially in order to provide a forum for this purpose, five people including Dada Ji formed the Sai Adhyatmik Samiti sometime in 1957. Dada ji was guided by five Sufis for establishing the Shaktee Peeth. The process of establishing the Shaktee Peeth, the store of the cosmic energy, was accomplished by establishing five centres between Bombay and Goa approximately a distance of 360 miles to represent the mini earth. This was further divided by connecting the five centres Bombay – Pune, Pune – Karad, Karad – Belgaum and Belgaum – Goa. This calculation was given by Khawaja Saleem Chishti of Agra. By traversing and staying in these centres periodically, as ordained by the deities, an environment was created to store the trigunatmak Shaktee in the Shaktee Peeth. It is learnt that the content of the eight seminars had already been written by Saleem Chishti Baba. The Sri Sai Adhyatmik Samiti ( Samiti meaning Association or committee) expanded to Sri Sai Swadhyay Mandal on 2 May 1985(Mandal meaning congregation) and later Sri Sai Kalp Adhyatm Sanstha (Kalp meaning era or a relatively long period of time and Sanstha meaning institution ) .
Thus by a remarkable penance of almost 36 years , a means was established ,by way of Shaktee Peeth , to provide the divine blessings, of Datta Nath and Sufis for the welfare of the entire humanity. A new yug(period) of the humanity began on 27 November 82 , Known as Sai Shaka . 27 Nov 82, being Sai Shake 1. 27 Nov 2015 was Sai shake 34. Sri Sai Kalp Adhyatm Sanstha with all its centres is devoted, through the Guru Marg and the divine principles of Datta, Naths and Sufis to work towards the welfare of humanity.
